moral complexity
ever see those little shits thinking theyre all the shit
thinking up trolley problems where its like "what if you could feed 100 families by pulling the lever, would ya do it then, huh"
"what if you could press a button to get one dollar, but it costs one and a half dollars"
yeah, 'what if'
get real
the only real moral theory is that you killed those families, pulled that trolley onto someone, by putting them into that situation
not them
there's no ethical conundrum behind what evils self driving cars perform when their brakes cut out and they're careening into a trolley problem. whatever evil acts you ascribe to them actually belong to the companies that made them drive themselves
and if those companies belong to you, you're your own victim
the idea of a shared moral ownership - even just the idea that those companies pay taxes that go to you, and you pay taxes and make laws that go to them - is just as disgusting when it's about sharing moral ownership over starving slaves. or over raving crews of pirates. is there such thing as a necessary evil? to life?
are we all pirates?
well.. maybe. but anybody can still choose to do good. once the trolley problem is over, you're going to go home and make another choice, and another, and another.
