spotify's business model
spotify clearly makes heavy use of machine learning algorithms. of statistics. of the cataloguing of the complex system - the numerology of musical records - that is an art movement, and is a place, and is a people, all at the same time.
but - spotify can't magically seek out songs to play for you
it doesn't have everything. it doesn't know everything. it doesn't even have rights to play half of the music records in the world. of course not. it can hardly even tell one person apart from another person.
why would people use it?
when it is inaccurate, it is as inaccurate as an overeager friend trying to show you a new artist. when it is repetitive, it is as repetitive as the rain that comes after days that you wish never happened. when it is dull, it is only as dull as the weeks that form up around it and within it. a giant, an imprecise, lumbering, unknowing thing, seeking such elixir that can soothe the noble, distant, flickering thing that is the soul.
if you could ever know kindness in an unthinking, unmoral, destructive giant - for all giants destroy, - spotify would have it
not youtube
not amazon
not even the apple app store
also i never used spotify
how tf am i supposed to know how their business model works
