on the chaos monsters
yeah, no, part 2 of that thing isnt coming out yet
nor is your update
im just here to give a presentation on slaads and why they are (and aren't) the chaotic neutral guys
Devils
![]() |
| i swear, this looks nicer in color |
devils look sorta like humans but in chains and twisted with torment
it's rather appropriate, seeing as most devils are made from tortured and imprisoned humans
even if the real devil is a talking snake in the form of a person, the human souls are... still sorta like human souls.
Demons
![]() |
| demons are the masks, not just the formless darkness behind them |
demons sorta embody hate and destruction and all those things humans fear
they aren't "pure evil and chaos given form", even if the real demon is... evil relative to humans is the only evil that humans respond to
its because theyre also humns
who wouldnve gessed
Slaads
slaads aren't "pure chaos given form"
they're poor humans who found themselves stuck halfway between their prior existence... and the primordial stuffs of the universe whence life was birthed.
they look like blobby frog lizards and axolotls and so on... because that's what happens when you throw a human back in time a couple hundred million years. prototypes collapse in on prototypes and embryonic failsafes kick in and regress to simpler, more reptilian, more fishy designs, because those were what worked before you were born.
chaos is a curse. it's the face of entropy, losing memory, losing purpose. it's liberating in the literal sense
how about i liberate your kidneys from your abdomen
how do ya like that
you can't give chaos to something to make it healthier or more functioning. chaos is the death of that thing, its inability to self-organize manifested in a single word.
and then the fuggin bacteria and ants crawl out of the dead thing and gain self determination or some shit
of course, thats a pretty good deal for the bacteria

| look at how happy this guy would be if he wasnt a slave to your anatomy |
when chaos wins, animals will break down into cells and the cells will be free. ideas have existed long before humanity, although not in a form you would recognize. they existed within wondrous, unaging wet machines the size of a cell that could debate with chemicals and pheromones and invisible motions, over aeons. ideas can be broken down into machine code and removed from the thinkers, to be executed by microscopic messengers and given power by chemical warriors.
but even a genome is mortal - some day, it will break back down into nucleotides and they will be free.
and they will debate of things that do not pertain to this thing called "life", for there is no life without the self-organization of a genome, but to their own matters. ideas can be broken down into their substrates and removed from any reason to occur, to be executed by nobody and given power by nothing.
that is the formless chaos, the state before life and after death
you've seen the great evil that represents death
death slaads are not that
they are a middling form of chaos that has its foundation in realizing this intellectual death
this animal death
freeing the slaad that is inside you
not realizing that new life can come from it as well, since life is a process of law, not chaos
Why do axes of law and chaos and good and evil still exist?
no im not talking about the axes you use to cut down trees
good and evil can't exist without the actor
separated from the world they become impotent things. just information
they are, fundamentally, something that was broken down from the actor
similarly, law and chaos can't exist without a being
too much chaos and the quanta fly apart
become nothing more than vectors with no memory and no reason - just information
too much law and the being is forgotten in favor of the superstructure they make up the units of
they are, fundamentally, ways to describe what happens to them
what they are; why they lived, and why they died
- the lawful afterlife: the society they live in rather than themselves
- the chaotic afterlife: animals rather than people
this isn't the only way that a being breaks down into law and chaos, but it is one of the more obvious ones
law and chaos, good and evil, are not axes just because
they're axes because their attraction is unavoidable. they are the laws of jealous, mortal, finite beings, too removed from the top of reality, where ideas are, and from the bottom of reality, where base, crude atoms are. and yet they are too close to both sides at the same time.
just because you've moved on and you live forever now doesn't mean that you stop seeing this "reality" and stop fighting for it
you're finally awake, kid
you hit your head pretty hard back there
good? evil? the formless chaos? what are you talking about, those things only matter in video games
come home, we have xlorg, nandor, and not waiting for you
and who could forget
klaxon
